Poojazzles
After receiving a life-saving fecal microbiota transplant--where the microbes of a healthy person’s gut are transplanted to an unhealthy recipient’s gut via feces--to treat a refractory clostridium difficile infection in 2013, the goals of my practice shifted to removing the stigma from openly discussing illness. My life continued to center around poop after receiving the transplant, and all too frequent trips to the doctor and the toilet led me to begin documenting the frequency and appearance of my bowel movements. I am fascinated by poop, an information-rich substance that has become a valuable commodity in medical and scientific communities, and hope to shine a new light on this stinky, taboo subject by presenting honest and sparkly renderings of my crap.
