Work in Education
Most of my time is spent teaching art to TK-8th grade students at an inclusive model charter school in Los Angeles. I oversee a TAB (teaching for artistic behavior) Studio where students learn studio habits of the mind and art history while creating works of art about any subject and in any medium they choose. You can see examples of this work at my teaching IG @sydneyteachingart (feed also included at the bottom of this page).
I have been teaching art in a school setting since 2011. I have a CA Multiple Subject Clear Credential, but my teaching experience has been almost entirely in an art classroom and I have a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Art. Head to the info section in the header for my full CV.
I founded an inclusive after school enrichment program and summer camp called Art Encounter at my school in 2017. The founding of this program led to hosting workshops and private parties for artists of all ages and physical and intellectual abilities outside of school. You can see more on that work here.
Other Creative Work
These days I work primarily in fiber art, but I also enjoy creating video art, performance art, photography, and painting with glitter. I occasionally post that work to the IG account linked above (and below) and also have an online store with my work here.
